About 

Glyn Jones is the Author of this Website and Blog on The Okinawa Way of Life. He began studying the Martial Arts as a young boy under the guidance of his father in the Japanese arts of Judo and Ju Jutsu. At the age of thirteen years he also started training in Karate under Cyril Cummings Sensei of the Japan Karate Association. He advanced on to achieve black belt dan grades in each of these three Martial Arts. 

Two of Glyn's most influential Karate teachers over many years being, Slater Williams Sensei of Shotokan and Brian Hinchliffe Sensei of Goju Ryu.

Many years of training later, Glyn received both his 4th and 5th Dan's in Karate from Masters at Japans most prestigious Martial Arts authority: The Day Nippon Butoku Kai, in Kyoto, Japan. Then going on to achieve is 5th Dan in Goju Ryu Karate on the island of Okinawa. To date he holds the rank and title of 7th Dan-Kyoshi.

Glyn continues to practice, research, and teach Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate and elements of Ti. As passed on to him by his teacher Shigetoshi Senaha Sensei the Ryusyokai Kaicho. Together with receiving guidance and teachings from other Senior teachers on Okinawa, the most influential being Hidenobu Tamaki Sensei, and James East Sensei. 

Whilst being a person who predominantly focuses on his own life, well-being, and daily Karate training. Glyn still has a desire to pass on the teachings of the Okinawan people, just as he has been taught himself. So he teaches by way of small groups. He receives regular invitations to teach and lecture at home and abroad. Whilst continuing to return to Okinawa, Japan, for instruction, guidance and inspiration regularly. His most recent trip being for 10 weeks through the winter of 2025/2026. He will be returning to Okinawa again in November 2026.

Over the years Glyn Jones has had many articles published in Martial Arts and Well-Being Magazines. Together with presenting his work more widely as the author of "Studying Karate the Okinawa Way"
